Mary Kay, Telenovela Style

Growing up I watched novelas (soap operas) religiously! For us, novela time was family time.  The drama, the death glares, the flawless makeup – NOTHING compares to the glamorous entertainment that is a telenovela.  In fact, one of my goals as an actress is to someday be in a novela * hint hint to you creators of fine Spanish language dramas that are reading this*.

As the official sponsor of Univison.com ‘s webnovela Arranque de PasionMary Kay sent me a  make-up set so that I could recreate one of the lead’s looks at home.  Ela, played by the lovely Kate del Castillo, is an edgy race car driver that sports a contoured yet natural look.

In a rare instance of perfect timing, it just so happened that I was invited to a taping of ‘The Talk’ along with some other influential bloggers, so I decided to put my new Mary Kay makeup to the test.

Here’s what I used to create the look:

  • Facial Highlighting Pen #3
  • Bronze Diva Coutouring Powder
  • Nourishine Plus Lip Gloss in Cafè au Lait
  • Chocolate Lip Liner
  • Beach Blonde Cream Eye Color
  • Lash Love Waterproof Mascara
  • Black liner to line my eyes and fill in my brows.

Arranque de Pasión, La Historia de Ela, will be airing 4/1/13 – 5/3/13 in 5 minute episodes released on Univision.com & UVideos every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  For those of you not into watching things on the ‘net, the novela is scheduled to air in its entirety on Sunday, 5/5 @ 10pm EST on Univision!

My Health: Optimized

November 6 was an action-packed day for me.  Not only did I head out to the polls and vote, but I also head to LabCorp to get my blood drawn.  Even though I eat pretty healthfully and workout, I’ll admit that I’m not the most diligent when it comes to getting check ups and clinical tests. I decided that I would kick my ‘I’ll get checked when I feel like I’m dying’ philosophy to the curb and get my baseline by WellnessFX and make sure my health was on point.

You are Beautiful

I’ve joined Dove’s Movement for Self Esteem in hopes of helping the young women of the world learn to feel more confident about themselves.  It’s taken me years, but I finally feel comfortable in my own skin thanks to the positive motivation I got from my mother growing up.  Please watch my video and let me know your thoughts about the importance of young women recognizing their own beauty.

I’m happy to say that I’m confident enough in myself to have filmed this sans make-up after a very long day :-)

Old Navy Swimwear

Swimsuit shopping is always a mission for me! Every time I head out to shop for swim gear, I get flusttered, I truly do.  There are so many options, so many styles, I hardly know where to begin! Well, this time around, I refused to leave the house without a strategy.  First, I thought about what I plan to do more of this summer.  Easy! I intend to be in the ocean as much as possible, doing some kayaking and possibly heading back for more surfing lessons.  From past experience, bikinis aren’t the best option for me for either of those activities, so by process of elimination, I made up my mind: I was gonna buy a one-piece!
