A New Year: 2013

I’m back! The hiatus from my site was purely unintentional but necessary. At the end of 2012 I managed to break my laptop charger (which has yet to be replaced) and soon after I got caught up in the whirlwind of apartment hunting and moving.  Needless to say, all that action left little time for writing.

And now it’s a new year and I couldn’t be more excited about things to come! I’m still settling into my new place in Beverly Hills and looking forward to pilot season.  I’m also getting back into the gym next week to start prepping to hit the competition stage again! In the past few weeks I’ve managed to lose a bit of muscle which is a big no-no for me. Fortunately the holidays weren’t full of overindulgence so I’m confident that I’ll bounce back fairly quickly.

On the good news front, I’ve just become a Girls Gone Sporty Ambassador and am looking forward to representing and working with other athletically inclined women!

I also found out today that ‘Love Overboard‘ will be airing on BET this Sunday January 6 at 11:30 PM EST! Tune in if you didn’t get to watch the play when we toured in 2009.

I gotta get back to unpacking, but I leave you with this:

A still frame from ‘The Bathroom Diaries’ which will be airing in late 2013. More details to come!

Covergirl & Diversity

I absolutely love that Covergirl doesn’t conform to some cookie cutter format for selecting theis spokesmodels.  From supermodels like Nikki Taylor and Tyra Banks, actresses such as Queen Latifah, Sofia Vergara and Ellen Degneres and even professional athletes, the folks at Covergirl really know what they’re doing in regards to diversifying and appealing to all women regardless of age or race.  I wish that more companies, particularly those that do have a role in instilling confidence in women, would work harder at diseminating the message that all women are beautiful.

I’ll save any rants on gender equality and social injustices for a future date, but I find it very cool that Covergirl not only added P!nk’s sassy self to their roster, but also Janelle Monae.  I stand fairly neutral in regards to her music, but I love her style!  I personally think Janelle’s an excellent fit for the brand and I’m not so secretly hoping that CG will host a swanky event in L.A. so I can have some of her style rub off on me (hint, hint).
