I can talk about how I’ve been absent from my blog, or about how I plan on ‘relaunching’ by the new year because I have things worth writing about, but nah! Instead, I leave you with photos from last night’s Latina Magazine 30 under 30 party. Enjoy!
Life has taken over! I have a new show called ‘Gringa Latina’ premiering tomorrow on YouTube (and on www.gringalatina.com but that hasn’t launched yet). Please take a few minutes to check out the trailer here:
The first two episodes are being released TOMORROW June 2 so be sure to subscribe to our channel www.youtube.com/gringalatinashow so you don’t miss out!
Hello my people!
Just dropping in to share a bit of exciting news: I will be taking to the stage once again to perform in a play (actually two plays within a series of shorts) called LA Views. It’s been a few years since I’ve done theater and I’m very excited.
We open on May 2 and I’m in the throws of rehearsal as I type
Performances will be Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the month of May. Visit the Company of Angels website for more information and to buy your tickets. See you opening night!
When asked to describe my (preferred) personal style, I like to say that I’m a sexy librarian with a naughty streak. I love vintage style clothing of all eras, but the pin-up look is one that I’ve pined after for years. The pin-up silhouette suits my figure, and I find it to be feminine, sexy and versatile. A few months ago my best friend/stylist and I happened upon a pop-up vintage sale hosted by Pinup Girl Clothing where we found this beautiful piece by Laura Byrne’s Black Label.
I fell in love with it instantly and held on to it until it could have a proper debut. And debut it did at a Skinnygirl Cocktails soirée hosted by Bethenny Frankel in honor of the 2014 Oscars!
I paired my pink leopard print dress with victory rolls, red lipstick and smokey green eyes. The earrings are an 80s consignment store find.
This time next year I’ll hopefully be posting pics of the dress I’ll be wearing while AT the Oscars!
Cheers to all of the talented actors and filmmakers that were either nominated or won last night.
I’m back folks! Ok, so I didn’t actually go anywhere, but I haven’t been spending much time on my site, and for good reason! For starters, I’ve been hanging out over at Sassy Mama in LA and loving it. But mainly, I’ve been focusing on me, myself and I – which roughly translates to my career. Last summer I was really inspired by someone in my life. You know, one of those things that by virtue of being around them and seeing them do their thing makes you want to step it up a notch. Yeah, that sort of thing. So I started writing creatively again and thus developed a concept for a TV show, and after consulting with and soft pitching it to my team, made it my sole focus over the past few months. That concept went from fledgeling idea, to scripted and shot … and is now going into editing. So yeah, I kinda sorta became an executive producer. The next steps (post editing) are still up in the air as we’re in the process of scheduling a few meetings with networks, so we’ll see exactly where my baby ends up! I can tell you that it’s a comedy, and I’ll leave you with that…and this:
Dare you to guess what we were up to
Nothing beats getting your face done up all diva-like by one of the best makeup artists in the industry. MAC Cosmetics Senior artist Caroline gave me a mini-makeover on Friday at the MAC Divine Night festivities, which marked the launch of their holiday color collection. The theme was 70s glam, and for once I felt like I could fully and shamelessly embrace my big hair and love of blue eye shadow. You know what they say, the bigger the hair the closer to God

We all go through challenges in life. The severity of how we perceive and react to these challenges is affected by our circumstances, age, mental state and even our maturity level. As a woman I feel as though our gender is faced with unique and extraordinary situations – and it’s this resilience and strength that I’ve observed in my own life and in the lives of other women that has driven me to be a staunch feminist my entire life. We women are strong. We women are beautiful. We women are fascinating, complex creatures.
That is why when I find out that in order to recognize and celebrate the remarkable women among us, Pine-Sol has teamed up with actress and activist Rosie Perez to launch the ‘When Life Gets Tough, Women Rise Above It’ campaign. As part of the campaign, Pine-Sol awarded a $25,000 donation to Women Empowered, a nonprofit based in Los Angeles that connects, educates and supports women of all ages and backgrounds, inspiring them to give back to their communities. How could i not support such a cause?

Glamour, lights, excitement . . . not exactly! The truth is, as much as I enjoy my job and all that it entails, I thrive on doing work but not so much on those things that are required of me when the camera’s not rolling – I’m talking red carpets and photoshoots; sure that’s all well and fun, but those things can be rather nerve racking. Edit that: VERY nerve racking. What do I wear? How should I do my hair? WHAT DO I DO WITH MY HANDS?!
Seriously, what am I supposed to do with my hands?
I’ve started working with a stylist, but when it comes to my hair and makeup I tend to do it myself unless I’m going for something highly stylized that I may not have experience with. That being said, I now have a full on professional makeup case full of goodies and I regularly buy new color palettes and tools of the trade to experiment with. Those experiments can add up to a lot of money. Fortunately for me, my favorite foundation is inexpensive and is carried at CVS, so it’s always easy to find and doesn’t hurt my budget. Same with my hair stuff. You may recall that I like to style my hair using TRESemmé Keratin Smooth (another awesome find).

Which is what I’m about to run off and do . . . again!
